• One strumming technique is the "chuck," which is a percussive filler.

• You can often lift your fretting hand completely off the neck when changing chords and just strum the open strings. The key of G is especially forgiving in this regard, since all of the open strings are notes in the G major scale. And, the open strings D, G, and B make a G major chord.

• One of the most popular songs of all time. It was written by Ben E. King, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. King had a hit with it in 1961. Many people have recorded it, but a noted version is John Lennon's 1975 release, which is the version this lesson is based on.
